Meet your Speaker: Livia Ramirez is an Austin-based Regional Director in Dimensional’s Global Client Group. She works on the Practice Management team, whose mission is to help financial advisors gain strategic insight into their business by reviewing their performance and strategies relative to those of like-minded peers. Prior to her role at Dimensional, Livia worked at AllianceBernstein as the chief operating officer for legal and compliance. She was charged with protecting the firm’s reputational and regulatory risk through long-term business planning, project management, logistical and technology operations, change initiatives, and talent acquisition and engagement within legal and compliance. Before that, Livia served as a registered investment advisor's first COO, a position in which she transformed and developed the infrastructure for operations, client service, technology, talent management, organizational development, portfolio management, communications, finance, and compliance. Recovering Real Estate from Unwanted Occupants: Property Possession Claims & Landlord Tenant Law in Oregon Recovering possession of real estate from unwanted occupants in Oregon can be challenging. This seminar identifies different types of property possession claims involving both tenant and non-tenant occupants. It discusses residential tenancy definitions and exclusions under ORS Chapter 90 and summarizes the Forcible Entry & Detainer (Eviction) process. It explores how Oregon’s “just cause” statutory scheme prohibits most “no cause” terminations of tenancy without a statutorily defined “qualified reason.” Finally, this seminar discusses how voluntary tenancy termination agreements may be used to recover possession of properties, essential agreement terms, and how to negotiate agreements. ABLE Accounts with the Oregon Treasury Savings Network John will provide an overview of the ABLE program and how it is implemented by the Network. ABLE is the state’s disability savings program that is open to people diagnosed with a disability before the age of 26. A person with a disability or an authorized legal representative can open an ABLE account. The money in an ABLE account belongs to the person with the disability and does not count against their means tested asset limits for vital state and federal benefits. Having an ABLE account can help relieve the pressure of someone who has special needs by allowing them to save for their future without losing their benefits by going over these asset limits. John has been married to Amanda his wife for over 21 years and they have two children, Parker who is 18 and Bridget who is 15. Before working for Oregon Treasury John worked for U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley in his Portland office as his Clackamas County and Washington County field representative. Before working for the Senator, John was the Oregon Government Affairs Director both at the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
